A-7 Corsair II (Bicentennial)
Hand-carved mahogany aircraft models from Mastercraft are now available for the first time at VarietyToy.com. These slightly larger aircraft are of the same quality you have come to know and expect from us at VarietyToy. Including this special A-7D Wood Model Airplane: the US Air Force's Bicentinnial Corsair, applied to aircraft number 72-0223. Chances are only here that you see a Corsair this colorful, as 72-0223 had been retired to Davis-Monthan Air Base and was subsequently scrapped. But 72-0223 lives on, in this precisely scaled wood model of the A-7D that replicates this airplane! The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack aircraft introduced to replace the United States Navy's A-4 Skyhawk, initially entering service during the Vietnam War. The Corsair was adopted by the United States Air Force, as well as the Air National Guard, to replace the A-1 Skyraider, F-100 Super Sabre and F-105 Thunderchief.
